Volunteer Opportunities

The individual volunteers and groups we recruit for race day will be an integral part of the success of the race! Volunteers will provide information, assistance and solutions for our participants and spectators.

with your contact information and area of race day volunteer interest. A volunteer
training session will take place on Saturday, May 19th promptly from 8 - 9 a.m.
at 305 Queen Anne Street (Town Hall) in La Plata.

Race Day
May 20, 2007, 6:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Chip Distribution
Volunteers will work with the race management company to distribute chips to runners
ONLY. This involves asking runner’s to see their black bib number and
then pulling and pass them their racing chip and an informational sheet.

Packet Pick-up
Volunteers in this area will help participants as they find their own bags
in the alphabetically organized boxes.

Awards Tent
Assist the event committee in the distribution of awards to participants.

Finish Line Chip Collectors
will direct runners to the chip return and water area
and assist runners in the removal of chips.

Food Tent
Volunteers will assist with the organization and distribution
of food/beverages to runners as well as monitor and clean the area.

Water Station
Set-up and distribute water to runners at the mid-race water station.
Volunteers will also cheer on runners and monitor and clean the area.

Parking
Volunteers in this area will direct participants to the
parking area at the La Plata courthouse.

Experience Adult Crossing Guards/Officers
Experienced assistance is also needed in getting participants across the street from the courthouse to La Grange Avenue. Anyone interested in this particular
